It cracks me up when I hear “middle” aged men using their age as an excuse NOT to work hard. Hell, I have heard people in their low 30′s use this excuse! I agree that your hormones start decreasing with age. But that doesn’t mean you give up! Age is nothing but a number. There are people who have been on this earth for 70 years who run marathons. There are 50 year olds who power lift. And there are people who are “old” that still have enough mojo to have babies later in life.

Get A (Reality) Check Up

I am not going to disagree that with age comes certain factors. Your body does age. I won’t deny that fact. But it isn’t as bad as an issue as you would think. Most guys use it to give an excuse for their laziness.

  • My metabolism is too slow. If you don’t eat crap, and start getting active, your metabolism will increase!
  • My joints hurt. Yeah – sitting on that couch really kills your hips. There have been studies that have shown that weight bearing exercise actually could alleviate joint problems, so working out will actually help joints.
  • I don’t want to throw my back out. You won’t with good form.

There really is no excuse for your age being a factor. As a man, you never will stop producing testosterone. Yes, the levels will slowly diminish, but it will never go away. You are never too old to unleash your inner beast.

Think Your Beast Free

There are countless books and blogs out in the world that tells you if you really want something, envision it in your mind and it will come true. Maximizing your male potential is no exception to this rule.

Think And You Will Be

I am not saying to meditate like ali baba and you will become the incredible hulk. But if you take the time to vision yourself being “that guy”, you will have more of a likelihood to become him.  Here are some helpful tips on how you can use the power of your mind, and become the best that you can be.

  • Know what you want to be – this is the first, and one of the biggest steps you will take. Before you can think about it, you have to know what you are thinking about. You don’t want to think about being fat, ugly and bad in bed because that is what you will become. And no one wants to be that! So really picture the guy that you want to be. Strong, suave and studly. Imagine that, and you will be that.
  • Imagine you already are what you want to be – people get stuck on this “imagine” thing. They honestly don’t know how to imagine something. When doing this, the goal is to feel that you already have everything you want. Find the feeling of being strong. Find the feeling of being suave. Find the feeling of being a stud. Find the confidence. Find the strength. Find the body. That is what you are after during the imagination exercises. The feeling of success so you can obtain success faster.
  • Think about it often – Basically, the ultimate goal is to get yourself feeling like a champ 24/7. Once that is achieved, nothing is going to stop you. But it is hard to mimic those feelings all day everyday, especially when you don’t know what feelings you are suppose to be mimicking. So start off twice a day. Spend 10 minutes right when you wake up envisioning how you are going to be throughout the day. Then as you are laying in bed, do the same thing, but envision for the next day. Once you do that regularly, throw a meditation session in mid day and review how you are doing, and think forward. Keeping adding time slots till you are in the zone 24/7.

One of the biggest question people ask when doing this is how do they know when they are successful?  IT is hard to say and depends from person to person. But you will know. You will be in a nearly unstoppable mindset. You will feel like you can kick ass in anything. It takes practice and time, but once you get the mental side down of it, you will start to see yourself blossom into the man you always knew you could be.

Rules For The Gym

I am not a big fan of a gym to begin with. I believe you can get better workouts on your own using bodyweight and a few tools rather than paying some ungodly amount of money each month to watch meatheads grunt and sweat. But some people don’t share the same view point as I do. Some people like fat sweaty guys. I don’t.

Regardless, some people like the gym. I must admit, I even hit the gym a few times a month if the weather isn’t ideal for outdoor training. If you are the type of guy that does well in a gym, here are a few rules to follow while you are working out:

  • Be in the zone and focus
  • No excuses. Get in and get it done.
  • Stay positive – the pain will be less.
  • It is called a workout, not a hangout. WORK.
  • No cell phones.

And my most important rule when working out in the gym:

  • Man the f*ck up, lift some heavy sh*t, and get strong, lean and athletic.

Too many guys hit the gym and to NOTHING! If you want to be a girl, lift like one. If you want to be a man, LIFT LIKE ONE! Lift big muscles. Lift heavy. Don’t worry about freakin’ micro muscles. Your supraspinatus can wait! Do squats, dead lifts, over press, military press, push, pull, rotate, jump. You are an animal. TRAIN LIKE ONE!
